Insert · the day itself
This is not a coach with a fixed timetable. A car and a driver-guide are booked for your party alone, they collect you in the Ubud area, and the stops are the ones the listing names: the rice terraces at Tegallalang, the Tirta Empul water temple, and the Tukad Cepung, Kanto Lampo and Tibumana waterfalls. The record gives the Gianyar Regency as the pickup area, with a transfer of about 1 hour at each end of the day.
You choose the length when you book. A 6-hour option visits up to 3 of the attractions; the full day runs about 8 to 10 hours and fits in more stops. The order is not fixed either: the operator moves stops around traffic, weather and crowds, and recommends starting early to reach the busy places before everyone else does.
At the waterfalls you can swim, and Tirta Empul offers its bathing ritual to anyone who wants to join. Lunch is not part of the price; the listing marks a local restaurant near the temple as an optional break, and your driver can suggest somewhere to eat.

Insert · why ubud
Ubud sits in the central part of Bali, inland from the beaches, in the green hills of the Gianyar Regency. Its name comes from the Balinese word ubad, medicine, after the healing plants and herbs that grew here.
An old legend places the start of it all at Campuhan, where two rivers meet below the town: a Javanese priest, Rsi Markandya, is said to have meditated there in the 8th century and founded the Gunung Lebah Temple on the valley floor. The same sage is credited with the subak, the shared irrigation that still feeds the terraces.
That mix is why Ubud works as a base for a day like this one. The palace, the market and the Monkey Forest are in town, the terraces and the waterfalls are a short drive out, and the temple at Tirta Empul is close enough to fit between them without a long day on the road.

Insert · what guests say
Read the reviews of this tour and the same thing comes up again and again: the guide. Guests name their drivers one by one and describe them as patient, funny and well informed about Balinese life, the kind of company that makes a long day feel short.
The second theme is freedom. Reviewers write that they decided how long to stay at each place, that the guide changed the route when a waterfall was crowded or a rice field had just been harvested, and that they never felt rushed. Several say their guide planned the day around the quietest hours.
The third is photographs. Many guests mention that their guide took pictures of them at the terraces and the falls, so they came home with photos of themselves and not only of the view. A few also mention extras on the way, such as a coffee tasting, which the itinerary does not list as a fixed stop.

Insert · the rains
Bali has a clear rainy season. At Ngurah Rai airport on the south coast, the nearest long climate record, January averages 350.7 mm of rain while July averages 27.6 mm. Ubud lies inland and higher, so read those figures as the island's pattern, not a gauge in the town.
Temperatures barely move through the year: the average daily high at the airport stays between 29.2 °C in July and 31.6 °C in November. What changes is the water. The operator warns that after rain the waterfalls can run brown, and that stops may be changed for safety.
So the dry months give the clearest pools, and the wet months give the loudest falls and the greenest terraces. Either way, the tour runs all year, and the free cancellation lets you move a date if a storm settles over the hills the night before.

Insert · the terraces
The terraces at Tegallalang lie in a valley north of Ubud, about a 20-minute drive from the town. The paddies follow the Balinese subak, a system of shared channels said to go back to the 8th century. On the tour this is a photo stop with a guided walk and free time.
From the viewpoint you can cross a small stream to the fields on the far side, and Indonesia Travel puts a full look around at about 30 minutes to 1.5 hours. Bring water and wear sunscreen; there is little shade on the terraces once the sun is up.
Rice grows in cycles, so the colors change from one visit to the next: flooded mirrors after planting, deep green as the rice grows, gold before the harvest and bare mud just after it. One reviewer found a field freshly cut and was taken to a quieter set of terraces instead.

Insert · the waterfalls
Tukad Cepung is a fall inside a rock cleft, where light comes down from the opening above. Getting there means about 200 steps down and a short rocky path through shallow water, with a moderate climb back.
Kanto Lampo, in Beng village, spreads over a broad staircase of dark rock, and the operator warns that it can be busy, with a wait for photos at peak hours. Tibumana is a single tall fall into a pool in the forest. The listing marks swimming at all three stops.
The paths are uneven, with stairs and slippery ground near the water, so shoes that grip matter more than anything else you pack. Bring swimwear, a towel and dry clothes for the drive between stops; the air is warm, but sitting in a car in wet clothes is not.
Weather
Average highs and lows from US federal daily weather records and rainfall from Japan Meteorological Agency normals, both for Ngurah Rai airport on the coast south of Ubud.Average highs and lows from US federal daily weather records and rainfall from Japan Meteorological Agency normals, both for Ngurah Rai airport on the coast south of Ubud.
Insert · the water temple
Tirta Empul is the water temple on this tour. The listing gives it a guided visit and free time, and it can be busy. Guests who want to join the ritual walk into the spring-fed pools and need a change of clothes and a towel.
Joining is a choice, not a requirement: you can watch from the side as Balinese families and visitors move from spout to spout. Ask your guide to explain the order of the spouts before you go in, and follow the dress rules at the gate.
On this day the temple sits between the terraces and the waterfalls, a quieter change of pace after the viewpoints. Allow time to sit in the outer courtyard afterwards and let your clothes dry before the next drive.
At Tukad Cepung
About 200 steps lead down to the waterfall in the rock.
Below them a short rocky path runs through shallow water into the cleft where the fall drops, and the climb back up is moderate. Wear shoes that grip on wet stone.
Insert · what to bring
The operator's list is practical: comfortable shoes, a change of clothes, a towel, sandals or flip-flops, water shoes, a camera, sunscreen and cash. Water shoes are the item people forget and regret at the rocky edge of a pool.
Mineral water is included, and so are parking and your driver-guide; entrance tickets are included only on the option with tickets, so check which one you pick. Lunch and tips are not included, which is what the cash is for.
A small dry bag helps at the waterfalls, where spray reaches further than you expect, and a light layer is worth having for the drive after a swim. Leave valuables at the hotel if you can.

Insert · private, not shared
This is a private tour: the car and the guide are yours, and nobody else is collected on the way. This Ubud private day tour starts from $14; set your date and group size on the booking page to see what your whole party pays.
Shared days around Ubud exist too, and some visit more places in town, such as the Monkey Forest, the palace and the art market. The comparison table on this page puts our tour beside three other Ubud days, private and shared, with their durations, guide languages and starting prices.
Cancellation is free up to 24 hours before, and you can reserve now and pay later. If your plans in Bali are still loose, that is the easiest way to hold a good date without committing.
Car, driver-guide, water, parking. Pickup and drop-off, mineral water, your driver-guide and parking; entrance tickets only on the option with tickets.

Central Bali. Ubud lies in the central part of Bali; on this tour the transfer from the pickup area takes about 1 hour each way.
No. Lunch is not included; the driver can suggest a restaurant, and the listing marks an optional lunch near Tirta Empul.
Grip shoes, swimwear, a towel. Also a change of clothes, sandals or water shoes, sunscreen, a camera and cash.
English, French or Dutch. The listing names live guides in English, French and Dutch.
See the table above. The comparison table sets this private day beside other well-reviewed Ubud tours, with their durations and starting prices.
The day still runs. After rain the falls can run brown and stops may change for safety; cancel free up to 24 hours before.
Insert · evenings in town
Guests staying in Ubud may be back earlier than the listed time, depending on distance and traffic, which leaves the evening free for the town itself. The palace, Puri Saren Agung, stands where Jalan Monkey Forest meets Jalan Raya Ubud, and Balinese dances are often performed in its courtyard after dark.
The Legong show at the palace is listed daily at 7:30 PM, for about 90 minutes, and the ticket seller advises arriving 45 minutes early for a good seat. Kecak and fire dances run on other nights at venues around town.
If you have a spare morning instead, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary opens at 9:00 AM, a short walk south of the palace. Ubud tours that include the forest give it about an hour.

Insert · honest caveats
It suits people who want nature more than sightseeing in town, who are happy to walk stairs and swim in cool pools, and who like a day shaped around them.
It does not suit everyone. The operator lists it as unsuitable for people with back, heart or breathing problems, limited mobility, wheelchair users and anyone afraid of heights, and alcohol and drugs are not allowed. The stairs at Tukad Cepung alone rule out a frail knee.
Expect crowds at the famous stops at peak hours; an early start helps but does not empty them. Expect brown water after heavy rain. And expect a long day if your hotel is far from Ubud, since the transfer each way is about 1 hour from the pickup area.
